Blog: Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!

I won't be uber preachy here. BUT...a quick look at the rules for Memorial Day.

Rule #1!
Today is NOT about:

BBQ's
NASCAR
TV marathons
Mattress sales

Rule #2!
It IS about:

and...

and...

and...

and...

SO MANY MORE who gave their lives.
So we could live ours.

Take just a moment to remember why this is a holiday.
And why even with all of our  daily complaining and moaning we are so blessed to live in the greatest nation on God's earth.

Rule #3!
Repeat Rules #1 and #2.

Happy Memorial Day. Thanks to you all!

Let's raise their pay (alot) and give them better benefits. When servicemen come home from war they need mandatory counselling. Period. MHO we should be out of Iraq AND Afghanistan.

Don, Thank you for that blog. Many think Memorial Day is made up of nothing more than what you listed in Rule #1. Some think it's a paid holiday, or a day to make double or triple over time. To me, its remembering fallen comrades. When I served in Iraq from 06-07, one of the things that helped keep me sane were the podcasts of the Don and Mike Show. Thanks for helping me cope with those stressors while in that "litter box."

Thank you! I come from three generations of military & became a Navy wife. Knowing there are still people who care about the sacrifices made on their behalf does a lot for troop morale. However, there are others who think the military is just this side of Satan.
I read something a few years ago on the 'tubes and keep it bookmarked. Whether it was an urban myth or the real deal, it helps explain why and where we get such men and women who proudly serve: http://thedailyblogster.blogspot.com/2007/05/wolves-sheep-and-sheepdogs.html

Yes it's all about the Troops indeed as well as where I'm from Victoria Day :)
God bless all the troops for fighting on the front lines to make us safe.
